Shelter at Botanic Gardens

Shelter at the Botanic Gardens. The main Shelter can be seen way up the hill to the west as you stand in the little shelter. At one time the Water cascaded down the hill over terraces and pools towards the little Shelter on the banks of the Trinity. When the plans for the Garden were drew up in 1930, Burleson Street did not exist. Later the name Burleson was changed to University Drive. The Shelter was constructed of Palo Pinto County sandstone.

A personal note worth repeating… When I was a young boy I remember my Grandmother telling me about a hanging tree near the entry of Botanic Gardens. She even pointed it out. It may still be there, don’t know.
